.: Heading Home

Anantha | 12/19/2004

It is these last few hours that are the most excruciating. The months passed, the weeks passed, the days passed, but the last few hours just don’t seem to. And to make things worse, the last few hours could be delayed because of an impending snow shower. :(

I don’t know how much has changed back home since I left shores, but I am not hoping to see anything drastic. But it is going to be great nonetheless. The joy of meeting old friends (few of them are in India , and few of them are flying back home for vacations too), professors in college, family and relatives is going to be the most euphoric.

And I think I will get back to eating 3-4 times a day , starting with a good breakfast, followed by a nice heavy lunch, and then a light snack and topped with a good dinner. I don’t know how my digestive system is going to react to this sudden overload of timely food, considering that it is used to a brunch ( breakfast + lunch at around 2-3 pm) and a untimely dinner at past bedtime. And I will get to sleep for more than 8 hours (yes, the medically recommended standard). Probably my mind and body cannot wait for this pampering to begin.

Ah ! yes, the sweets. That’s something the tongue has been longing to taste ever since I left home. The taste of mouth-watering sweets made in fresh ghee with the love and affection of my mom is something that “money cannot buy”. And not to mention the long hours of talk which me and my dad used to have on a wide variety topics. And I will atlast get to watch some cricket on TV, even if its only the Bangladesh series. Gosh !! The list seems pretty endless and the trip only 32 days.

I don’t want to think of things now. I just want to reach home and do all the above said things.

.: Got views ?

Anantha | 12/16/2004

Yet another little feature added to deviationz. A brand new guestbook powered by WP.

The comments box does not show up until you decide to comment, and when you decide to either click on the image at the top which says ” Drop in a line …” or the links “drop in a line” or “your thoughts”.

And I have already made arrangements to tackle spam, if at all some one decides to.

.: Coolio

Anantha | 12/3/2004

Random surfing brought me to this rather nifty site . All (but not very simple I assume) it does is it mirrors any given site. Here are two samples. The google site and my site.

.: Leafy Globe

Anantha |

This is probably how the earth would look like from a *land far-far-away* if it was lighted from within and the earth’s crust was transparent. So much for my imagination !! Well, this is nothing but a floor lighting covered with dried leaves at the World War II Memorial in Washington DC.

.: Shopping Blues

Anantha | 12/2/2004

With less than 20 days before my long-awaited trip back to India, I am in lost. And lost in deciding what gifts to take back home. And it is partly due to overplanning in a few cases and lack of it in the others. I have bought the gift for my best friend and kind-of decided on what to get for my dad and grandparents but the big problem is in deciding what to get for my mom and my girlfriend. I scanned the shop at a huge mall mall in Washington DC to buy something nice, but all I ended up doing was not buy anything at all. A clear case of not being able to make the choice.

Shopping for mom always seems to be very tricky. I somehow feel rather limited in options when it comes to shopping for her. And I don’t want to buy something fancy which will not be used more than once, but something that will find use in her everyday life.

Looks like it is going to be a real toughie, but I am hopeful of finding something rather sweet and nice.
