I know it’s been a long time overdue, and I have had my parents breathing down my neck to post the photo of my new car and I the procrastinator have been putting it off. Ladies and gentlemen, I present my new ‘05 Honda Accord.

………..to get a name right? Forget about the pronounciation, atleast get the word right. I am referring to the different aliases I go by at my new work place. On the first day, a few people called me “Amanda” or atleast something that sounded like it. Bad as I thought it was, come the next day a few other people call me “Athena” or something like that. Nowadays, its a little better considering that I am getting a few phone calls and people come to my office and ask me how my name is pronounced and I end up teaching them. And when people really can’t get it even after my efforts to teach them, I let them call me “Andy”. So much for names!!!

That’s what you would expect me to be saying in Miami. The babes here are hotttt. And I am yet to sneak a peek at Miami beach. Anyways, when I read sumant’s comment, I realized how awfully long it has been since I posted anything. The main reason was that initially I was busy with the moving in, settling down and the rest, and then I did not have internet at home till just a few minutes back. Things are very different when you start working and don’t really have the luxury of time to take care of little things. I had the cable modem waiting for me for 3 days since the leasing office where FEDEX had left the package for me closes at 6 pm and I don’t get off work till 6.30 pm. Today I made a concious effort to wrap things up and get home to set it all up. I suddenly feel liberated. I was without my best buddy for almost a month. I really hope my internet addiction does not cut into my sleeping time.

Work is pretty good. I am already into two big projects working on designing post-tensioned concrete floor systems for floors with weird geometries. Fun stuff indeed! People at work are really nice bunch of guys who are not too old but have enough experience and wisdom. The older ones are really fun to be with since they are all the time cracking a joke or pulling your leg. It’s more like a family than anything else. We have our company’s 50th anniversary tomorrow. I am excited at the prospects of meeting more people and clients with whom I might be dealing with in the near future.

Traffic in Miami is a bitch. Not to mention the drivers. It’s almost like taking the street in Chennai. The only difference is that there are more lanes and cars and no PTC and autos. Rest its the same. Weather is just like good ol’ chennai with high humidity and slightly lesser temperatures. If someone hates rains, its not the place to be. Almost every evening in summer, it supposedly rains. And it has not dissappointed me yet. The new ‘05 Honda accord EX is just right. It’s a feel good car, and value for money. I just love it.

More to come soon……….now that I have internet at home. Also there are plans of setting up a group blog along with my friends from high school. It would be nice if it gets rolling since there would be more drive to put up something.
